Candidates
Note: Any candidate, party, or office that I have worked for may not share the same views as mine. My views are not to be construed as the views of any affiliates, nor their views to mine.
Tina Cannon For Congress (UT - CD 1)
Tina Cannon ran a primary campaign against incumbent congressional Candidate Blake Moore in Utah's 1st Congressional District. Tina Contacted me after my previous candidate lost in the convention and asked if I would be her Campaign Manager. Working alongside Tina was fantastic; she was one of the most knowledgeable candidates I have ever had the pleasure of working with. Although Tina lost her election, she became a Senior Advisor to the State Auditor.
William Campbell for Congress (UT - CD 1)
Bill Campbell was a political outsider looking to unseat Blake Moore in a Republican primary challenge. Before stepping into politics, Bill was a well-accomplished businessman and served as a CFO for a major corporation. Bill asked me to serve as a campaign consultant as he navigated the inner workings of Utah politics. Bill ultimately did not make it out of the convention and therefore did not get the chance to run in the primary campaign. However, Bill and his wife are two of the greatest people I have ever met, and their positive attitudes and kindness radiate wherever they go.
Burgess Owens (UT - CD 4)
Burgess Owens, a former NFL superstar, is now the Congressman of Utah's 4th Congressional District, a campaign I had the pleasure to serve as the Field Director. Before working with Burgess, I had helped another candidate he ultimately defeated in the convention/primary. I was approached to work on Burgess's campaign after the convention concluded.
This campaign was a major multi-million dollar endeavor, as it was a targeted seat the Republican party was determined to flip. As Field Director, I managed the ground operations, coordinating the efforts of over 3,000 volunteers. This immense responsibility required detailed voter analysis to determine the most effective areas to deploy our volunteers to maximize vote-winning potential.
When I joined the campaign, volunteers were primarily conducting phone call operations. Upon reviewing the data, I realized that more than this approach would be needed for our sought win. I revamped our strategy, shifting our focus to door-to-door campaigning while adhering to safety guidelines due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Our adversary, Ben McCadams, conceded defeat. In his concession interview, he acknowledged our door-to-door campaign as a possible reason for our victory since his campaign had not pursued this approach.
Kathleen Anderson (UT - CD 4)
Kathleen Anderson was a candidate for Utah's 4th Congressional District. Kathleen had previously served in various party positions before jumping into the race. During this campaign, I served as Kathleen's campaign coordinator.
While on her campaign, we amassed the largest following of social media followers than any other political figure or candidate in the state of Utah (besides Senator Mitt Romney, who previously was a presidential candidate).
As this was at the beginning of COVID-19, we had to be creative in our approach to voters and revamp our entire strategy as lockdowns began. I had the idea to create a weekly "Live" show with Kathleen that I would record and coordinate, and we allowed her to communicate directly with voters and show off her political and policy acumen.
While Kathleen did not make it out of the convention (which happens before the primary), she was polling with the general public at the same levels as other top-tier candidates. In fact, after the campaign, I was told that other campaigns/candidates were worried about us in a primary election on more than one occasion.
While this campaign was cut too short, I am happy to have worked with Kathleen. She and her husband introduced me to Utah politics and allowed me to grow into what I know today.
The office of the Utah Attorney General
During the 2018 legislative session, I served as a legislative intern at the Utah Attorney General's office. In this role, I worked closely with the Legislative Director, which gave me a deep insight into the Utah justice system and our judicial policies.
At that time, our primary focus was addressing crimes against children and developing policies around technology use. Admittedly, the discussions in some committee meetings were challenging, dealing with emotionally charged and distressing issues. Despite this, I remained committed to maintaining a professional demeanor throughout these discussions as I represented the office of the Attorney General.
Overall, I am deeply grateful for this opportunity, which gave me a comprehensive understanding of Utah's legislative process and justice system.
Refugee Council USA
Refugee Council USA is a coalition of like-minded organizations focused on helping displaced and migrating individuals achieve safety, stability, and prosperity. Some of the organizations in the council include Amnesty International, International Rescue Committee, Church World Service, and many others.
While the organization advocates for policies that enhance the treatment of refugees and migrants, it is a non-partisan organization that recognizes that many voices are needed in order to create solutions.
As a coordinating intern, it was my duty to help oversee the messaging and day-to-day activities of the organization. This included assisting in the hiring process of a new communications director and participating in meetings with members of Congress.
